Change lives as
a foster parent

We believe foster care agencies do not provide foster care …foster parents do.  There is no comparable experience to being a foster family for a child with medical or developmental needs. It is both richly challenging and richly rewarding. It will test parenting skills and open a household to unmatched levels of joyful triumph and at times, loss. We work with a vulnerable population of children.

Through the journey we will be by your side.

Am I a good fit?

The remarkable families that open their hearts to Childkind’s children are motivated by personal passions to help the most vulnerable and to make the world a better place for them. Their capacity for love is abundant; their dedication to the children they foster.

Our role as a foster care agency is to provide the best and most compressive support possible to you.

Why foster with childkind

Programmatic Reasons

  • Childkind has its own nurses – a Childkind nurse can help the foster parent understand the child’s complete care needs, can answer questions or address concerns that might arise, and provide assistance when a child’s regimen of care changes.
  • Childkind has its own behavioral health staff, including a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Behavioral Support Specialist. Childkind can provide behavioral management training and support for the foster parents without the need of going to an outside provider.
  • Much of Childkind’s foster parent training is conducted in-house and is geared towards the needs of the children and foster parents served through the program. Trainings are conducted at convenient times for foster families.
  • Childkind has a lot of veteran foster parents who can be a resource for new parents

Staff Quality

  • Diverse staff
  • Knowledgeable
  • Accessible and Responsive to our Foster Parents, go above and beyond
  • Childkind has a low turnover rate for staff and leadership

Efficient Administration

  • Childkind pays its foster parents on time every time
  • 97% of Childkind’s expenditures go to services for children and families

Community Partnerships

  • Childkind is well known in the medical community – social workers and physicians at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and its three pediatric hospitals know the agency and the quality of its support to foster families.
  • Childkind is well known in the mental health community
  • Childkind partners with a variety of community-based organizations, including FODAC, Helping Mamas, FOCUS, and others. See Community Partners
