Nice time with father

Imagine spending 18 years in the same room.

Imagine never feeling the softness of grass beneath you.

Imagine everyone around you wearing uniforms and rubber gloves.

A developmental disability should never be the cause of a child not feeling a gentle spring breeze or the coldness of falling snow. A physical challenge should not be the justification for a life-sentence to isolation from the celebrations and joys of the world in which we live.

Host Homes

Good time together

A Childkind host home is a real home with an extraordinary family. Our host families are recruited for their skills at providing loving and nurturing care for children who, due to physical or developmental challenges, cannot now live with their family of birth.

Yes, birth families stay involved with their children. At the same time, however, with Childkind the environment their beloved children experience will be the natural warmth of a host family instead of that all too artificial institutional setting. Our host families and staff consist of skilled and experienced nurses, disability professionals, and social service workers. Through our community of partner agencies and supporters, we are able to provide a wide variety of services to each family with whom we work.
